Hittite Trail — Capitals of a Forgotten Empire

Overview

Long before Rome, long before Greece, an empire stretched across Anatolia that most of the world has forgotten. The Hittites ruled from the heart of modern Turkey for centuries, built one of the ancient world's great capitals, and shaped the course of history in ways that still echo today.

This journey takes you to Hattusha, the Hittite capital, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where massive stone gates, sacred temples, and royal chambers have survived three thousand years. Nearby, the open-air sanctuary of Yazılıkaya holds one of the most extraordinary collections of ancient rock carvings in the world, a gallery of gods and kings carved directly into the living rock.

From Cappadocia, where early civilizations sought shelter in the valleys and underground cities of central Anatolia, to Ankara, the capital of modern Turkey, the journey bridges ancient and contemporary history. In Ankara you will visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, home to the finest Hittite artifacts ever excavated, and Anıtkabir, the monumental mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, founder of the Turkish Republic.

Your guide knows this history not from textbooks, but from years spent in the field. You travel privately, at your own pace, with full logistical support from arrival to departure.
